The Brazilian media house Abril has been sold to Calvary Investimentos. Abril, formerly owned by the Civita family, is a large media group which publishes the gravure printed influential weekly magazine Veja, with 1,2 million copies one of the news magazines with the highest print run worldwide. The group also includes printing activities such as the long standing ERA member Abril Grafica which operates in their plant in Sao Paulo four Cerutti presses. Calvary Investimentos’ owner is the businessman and lawyer Fabio Carvalho who will take over the position of the CEO of the Abril Group. The Group is reported to have debts equivalent to over half a billion US dollars.
