Continuing our new series featuring the voices of ERA members

Member Spotlight: Dalim Software

Welcome to the third edition of our ‘Member Spotlight’ series, designed to shine a light on the diverse perspectives and experiences of our member organisations. Spanning the globe, our members offer unique insights into industry trends, challenges and innovations. By featuring their voices, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of the gravure printing landscape and wider print industry.

This week’s member spotlight takes us out of the factory and into the world of software. Dalim Software, to be precise. This collaborative company creates innovative automated solutions for the printing, packaging, and publishing industries and helps its clients continue to thrive in an increasingly digital world. We asked them for their thoughts on everything from industry trends to sustainability and environmental impact. Here’s what they told us.

Industry trends and challenges

ERA: What emerging trends do you believe will shape the future of the print industry?

Dalim Software: We think that the diversification of print techniques will be an increasingly effective strategy for growth within the industry. Digital printing is complementary to analogue technologies like gravure and represents a relatively small investment in comparison, promoting innovation and attracting younger skills and clients to a business.

Technology and innovation

Which new technologies have had the most significant impact on gravure printing operations in the past year?

Online digital proofing technologies have streamlined gravure printing by enhancing colour-accurate, high-resolution on-screen verification. These tools enable remote collaboration and early error detection, helping to avoid costly mistakes like remaking cylinders or reprinting large runs. While physical substrate proofs still play a role, digital proofing reduces delays, improves communication, and shortens production timelines. This makes gravure operations more efficient, adaptable, and less prone to expensive rework.

Sustainability and Environmental Impact

What steps has your company taken to reduce its environmental impact?

We have created a sustainability roadmap in line with the UN’s 17 goals for sustainable development. This spans everything from powering our building with hydroelectricity and using servers powered by renewable energy to creating a corporate Green Committee and educating our employees on sustainability. We also remain transparent about our carbon footprint and break down our emissions by activity on our website. You can learn more about our sustainability roadmap at csr.dalim.com

Future Outlook

What is your outlook for the print industry over the next 5-10 years?

We think more companies will grow with a digital vision, with new entrants investing in digital presses that complement the volume capability that analogue printing processes such as Gravure have. Additionally, unifying their front end to address all processes digitally. We would like to see more educational and cross-industry training programmes so that people entering the print industry are as much digital professionals as they are print specialists.
